What was ABC?

ABC was an exciting six-month cultural arts project designed for teen girls aged 12 to 17. Produced by GIRL GRIND UK CIC in collaboration with the Duke of Edinburgh and Blackwell Adventure, and generously funded by United by Legacy, this unique experience left a lasting impact on participants in 2024.

 

Looking Back at What We Offered:

In the summer of 2024, 25 talented teen girls embarked on a transformative journey with ABC. Through our GROWNISH initiative, they experienced a blend of creativity and cultural exploration, with a 5-day, 4-night residential adventure and up to 15 hours of guided volunteering that made memories to last a lifetime.

 

Activities and Growth:

Participants explored a variety of creative workshops in music, dance, and drama, paired with essential life skills sessions on financial well-being, active citizenship, and healthy relationships. From outdoor cooking to camping, hiking, canoeing, zip lining, and archery, the program was designed to unleash each girl’s fullest potential while empowering them to grow into strong, active citizens.

 

Empowerment and Recognition:

As part of their journey, ABC participants not only gained invaluable skills but also earned a CV-boosting certificate through our partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh. More importantly, they built friendships, boosted their confidence, and found their place in their community.

With the success of 2024’s ABC behind us, we’re excited for what the future holds. Watch this space for exciting updates on ABC 2025, where a new cohort of teen girls will once again embark on a journey of self-discovery, creativity, and empowerment!
