Birmingham Festival 2022 presents Girl Grind UK's project POW! aka People Of Ward End
History of POW
Girl Grind UK have been working in and around Ward End since our humble beginnings in 2020 through our Birmingham City Council funded project BLK+GRN. We learnt about the creativity, culture and bilingual tounge of Ward End by working with a range of local community hubs. POW has been co-designed by the communities we worked to celebrate the gifts, skills and talents of creatives, residents and women led business in the area to be delivered as part of the Birmingham Festival 2022 Commonwealth Games community projects.
From June 2022 to September 2022 we will be working across Ward End to produce a documentary film that raises the creative profile of the PEOPLE OF WARD END, in partnership with Dolphin Center and Unity Hubb. Over 6 months we'll be delivering creative workshops led by artists and creative professionals for local residents, working deeply with hyper local female led micro businesses and local leaders profiling their stories and of corse premiering the POW documentary film late summer 2022 with a private and public facing screening for all to share.
